Brazil release 26-man sqaud for FIFA World Cup 2026

Brazil Manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has selected his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 scheduled to be hosted in the United States of America (USA), Canada and Mexico.

The squad list is coming few days after the Italian agreed in a fresh contract to coach the Brazil senior national team until 2030.

Former Barcelona forward, Neymar Jr, made the list as many questions surrounded whether the Real Madrid former manager would include the Santos FC player, particularly, after dumping him out of the sqaud for friendlies in March.

Since 2023, the former Al Hilal forward player had not received any call-up by Brazil, however, has always made known his desperation to feature at the World Cup, despite suffering hamstring and knee injuries over the last twelve (12) months.

Finally, Neymar’s wish will come to fulfilment, as he has been selected in the Brazil sqaud to feature at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

There are other top, in-form players who made the sqaud – looking like an All-star team – they include, Marquinhos, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes. These three players are finalists in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26.

In the history of the FIFA World Cup, Brazil remains the most successful team, winning five (5) titles – 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002 – but the Green-Yellow have not won the World Cup in the past twenty-four (24) years.

Brazil will kick off their Group C campaign against Morocco on 13 June, 2026 in New York. On 19 June, the Green-Yellow head to Philadelphia for a match against Haiti, before closing the preliminaries with a match against Scotland on 24 June in the city of Miami.

In his pre-announcement ofghe Brazil sqaud, Ancelotti said: “We will have a list from which we can develop quality football, with a collective spirit.

“The perfect list isn’t there, I’m sure. I have to say that the perfect team won’t win the World Cup, a perfect team doesn’t exist. I think a more resilient team can win. We want to be the most resilient team in the world.

“I’m not afraid to say that we want to win the World Cup, because there are high expectations. Motivation is an important aspect in preparing for this World Cup.”
