WAFCON 2026 Final: Cameroon win first title with 3-0 win over Malawi

Cameroon clinched the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time following a fine 3-0 triumph over Malawi in the final on Sunday 16 August, 2026 at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

Marie Ngah netted a brace and Naomi Ndjoah Eto scored one to hand the Indomitable Lionesses a commanding victory on Sunday night; the outcome ended Cameroon’s long wait for the WAFCON title.

The West African opened the scoring through Ngah in the 20th minute, Eto added the second ten (10) minutes later, and three (3) minutes to first half stoppage time, Ngah sealed the victory for Cameroon with the third; Ngah’s second goal settled the contest.

The result means Cameroon are now the fourth different country to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), joining Nigeria, ten-time Winners, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.

After three (3) times in the final of the tournament, the Indomitable Lionesses are finally Champions of Africa; they fell to the Super Falcons in the deciding match in 2004, 2014 and 2016.

Before reaching the final, Cameroon defeated Nigeria by a lone goal in the quarter finals, and went ahead to oust host country, Morocco, 3-1, in the semi final; after a goalless outcome, the Indomitable Lionesses scaled through their North African opponents in a penalty shootout.
