Cristian Romero, Argentina International, who featured for the White and Sky Blue in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has parted ways with Premier League Club, Tottenham Hotspur, and joined Spanish La Liga Club, Atletico Madrid.
Both Clubs have struck an agreement for the transfer of the Argentine defender, who has put pen to paper for the Mattress Makers until June 30, 2031.
Romero, twenty-eight (28) years of age, is an experienced defender who is heavily physical, quick to detect danger and fast to decide on how to tackle; he also wields authority and leadership during actions on the pitch.
The centre-back born in Cordoba, Argentina, on 27 April, 1998, kicked off his professional career at Club Atlético Belgrano; he recorded his first team debut in 2016.
He fielded two (2) seasons for the Argentine Club before moving to Italy, where he joined Genoa, and subsequently, joined Juventus in 2019 following a beautiful debut in Serie A, Italian top tier League football.
Romero passed his medical at the Vithas-Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Centre at Arturo Soria University Hospital in Madrid, Spain before heading to the Club Office at Wanda Metropolitano, where he signed the contract with Atletico Madrid.
He recorded his debut for the Argentina Senior National Team in June, 2021, and still with the White and Sky Blue to date. The defender was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosted in Qatar, alongside its 2021 and 2024 Copa América titles and its recent runner-up conclusion at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted in the United States (US), Canada and Mexico.
