2027 Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has sent greetings to Ibrahim Babangida on the occasion of the 85th birthday of the former Nigeria President.
In his birthday message to the former Military President via X, Obi described Babangida as a “respected and significant statesman”, and said, IBB’s “commitment to national unity remains invaluable”.
Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida was born on 17 August, 1941 in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. He ruled as Nigeria’s Military President from 1985 to 1993.
Obi wrote: “Your Excellency, Mr President, Our Leader, & Our Dear Father,
“On behalf of my family, I join numerous well-wishers across the nation to most sincerely congratulate you today on your 85th birthday anniversary.
IBB rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Army, and then advanced to the rank of a General and eventually, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He ruled Nigeria for eight (8) years without interruption.
The former Governor of Anambra State prayed “good health and peace of mind” for the former Chief of Army Staff, who served from 1984 to 1985.
Obi further wrote: “May Almighty God grant you continued good health, joy, peace of mind, and many more years of fruitful life.
“Happy birthday, Mr President.”
