‘I remain red and white until the very last breath’ – Griezmann

In his tribute to Atletico Madrid, French forward, Antoine Griezmann, said, it is difficult to express in words what he feels because Metropolitano “is my home and you are my family”.

The goal machine made the statement as he signs for American Major League Soccer (MLS) Club, Orlando City FC, and will officially move to the club this summer.

Griezmann described his journey with Atletico Madrid as “incredible”, saying, it is loaded with “unforgettable joy and passion”.

The player is not leaving Spain yet as he still has months to flaunt the red and white shirt; he said, he is eyeing to win the Copa Del Rey 2025/26 title with the club before leaving, as well as, to progress beyond the quarter finals in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26.

In his tribute “to the badge”, Griezmann wrote: “It’s not easy to put into words what I feel, because this club is my home and you are my family. It has been an incredible journey, full of unforgettable matches, goals, joy, and a passion that only those of us who feel Atleti can truly understand.

“But for now, let’s leave the future in the future: because I’m not leaving yet. I still have months left wearing this shirt, months to give everything in our stadium and away from it, to lift that Copa del Rey and to dream of going as far as possible in the Champions League.”

The Frenchman said, he is still around to do it “as always” with his teammates “together” for the Mattress Makers, adding, “the best is still to come”

He said, he remains committed to the “red and white until the very last breath” of the season.

Griezmann further wrote: “We still have many opportunities ahead of us to be happy. I want every minute I have left here to be a tribute to this badge. The best is still to come. We’ll do it as we always have: together.

“My present will remain red and white until the very last breath of this 2026 season. And my heart will be forever.”

Antoine Griezmann is leaving Atletico Madrid as the Club’s leading all-time goalscorer with more than two hundred (200) goals, and, the player with the fourth-most appearances.

After putting pen to paper for Orlando City FC, Griezmann said: “I am very excited to begin this next chapter of my career.

“From my first conversations with the club, I could feel a strong ambition and a clear vision for the future, and that really spoke to me.

“I look forward to making Orlando my new home.”

Atletico Madrid, who are currently 4th on the La Liga 2025/26 table with fifty-seven (57) points, will face Real Sociedad in the Copa Del Rey 2025/26 final, and Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 quarter finals.
