Coventry City bagged their first points of the Premier League 2026/27 with a lone goal victory over Nottingham Forest in the top flight encounter at City Ground on Saturday 19 September, 2026.
It was a win achieved by the Sky Blues with great struggle, huge thanks to a second-half strike from Wales National Team defender, Jay Dasilva.
Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, newly promoted to the English top tier football League system after winning the Championship 2025/26, had emerged losers in their previous four (4) Premier League games; they conceded ten (10) goals and netted zero (0).
It was a one-sided contest with the Tricky Trees in complete dominance, but, Lampard guided his side well to weather all that storm, and ten (10) minutes after the break, the breakthrough came for the visitors through Dasilva.
The home side definitely threatened with efforts from Dan Ndoye and Liam Delap curling past the post, and Coventry City goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth made sure to deny Neco Williams.
With four (4) minutes left, Nottingham Forest thought they had levelled when Igor Jesus found the back of the net after Coventry central midfielder, Caleb Yirenkyi, fell in the box.
But, after a review by Video Assistant Referee (VAR), the referee adjudged that Yirenkyi’s fall was caused by Jesus, and the goal disallowed.
Currently, Coventry City have climbed up, from the bottom of the table to the 18th spot with three (3) points, while, Nottingham Forest are 12th with five (5) points; both after five (5) games.
