Earlier in June, students and members of staff were affected in a gas leak incident that occurred at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Executive Governor, Dapo Abiodun, announced via X, on Friday 19 June, 2026, he visited the School and expressed “deep concern” on the well-being of everyone who were affected by the “unfortunate” incident.
Also, the Governor expressed gratitude for “prompt” intervention that helped in calming the situation.
Governor Abiodun announced: “Today, we paid a visit to Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode, following the unfortunate gas leak incident that affected students and members of staff earlier this month.”
He said: “We remain deeply concerned about the well-being of everyone impacted by the incident and are grateful that prompt intervention helped to stabilize the situation.
“We reassured the school community of our administration’s commitment to their safety, welfare, and continued support during this period.”
Abiodun said, his government will always work together with relevant agencies to ensure the prevention of similar mishaps, as well as, ensure the learning environment of the children of the Southwestern State is “safe and conducive”.
Governor Abiodun said: “As a government, we will continue to work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to prevent similar occurrences and ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all our children.”
