FG advances digital learning, girls’ education with ICT support for ’15’ colleges of education

The Federal Government has reasserted its commitment to bolstering teacher education, advancing digital learning promoting school safety through the handover of ICT materials to “15” Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

This was announced via a Press Release on Tuesday 2 June, 2026.

The Press Release by the Federal Ministry of Education signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations, reads: “The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening teacher education, accelerating digital transformation,

“promoting school safety, and expanding inclusive access to quality education through the handover of ICT equipment and instructional materials to 15 Colleges of Education across Nigeria.”

In collaboration with the Japanese Government, UNESCO-IICBA, the intervention is part of a project within the region, across six (6) countries in Africa to push “continuous access” to “safe and quality” education for girls.

The Press Release further reads: “The intervention, implemented with the Government of Japan, UNESCO-IICBA, and the African Union, is part of a regional project across six African countries to promote continuous and inclusive access to safe and quality education for girls.

“Speaking in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, said the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and national priorities in TVET, STEM, digitalisation, and reduction of out-of-school children. She noted that teachers remain central to education reform.”

Prof. Ahmad revealed, the equipment include, “laptops, tablets, desktops, smart boards, projectors, printers, and storage systems to strengthen digital teaching and learning”. She continued, “capacity-building will support ICT integration, inclusive pedagogy, and school safety”.

Officials from the Japanese Embassy alongside those of UNESCO-IICBA and NCCE, hailed the progress achieved by Nigeria, and reaffirmed non-stop support for teacher development, girls’ education, and safe learning environments.
