Also, he made known to Lagosians that, in the area of health, particularly “on maternal mortality”, the Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration has “constructed 4 Maternal and Child hospitals in Eti Osa, Badagry, Epe and Alimosho”, further revealing “we are also building the biggest pediatric hospital in Sub Saharan Africa”.

In his message to women on International Women’s Day, Governor Sanwo-Olu said: “Thank you to the Arise News team for inviting me to their studio on this special International Women’s Day.

“If you missed the interview, I started by celebrating the incredible contributions that women have made and continue to make in every aspect of Lagos.

“I specially celebrated women in our government where we have kept our promise of over 30% women in our Cabinet.

“I have written letters to distinguished female leaders that continue to inspire us. I will also be celebrating over 10,000 women at an event in Lagos later today.

“Today, my deliberate policy on female representation has brought a lot of women leaders into key positions in Lagos.

“A lot of our key projects cutting across infrastructure works are driven by female leaders chosen on merit.

“On maternal mortality, we have constructed 4 Maternal and Child hospitals in Eti Osa, Badagry, Epe and Alimosho.

“We are also building the biggest pediatric hospital in Sub Saharan Africa.

“In leadership, we have ensured gender balance in the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, a Programme offering life changing opportunities.

“In the creative industry, we have empowered women working with Ebony Life, Del-York, Ogidi Studios and the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.

“I also celebrate my wife Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu today, a strong voice in promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls.

“As a government, we will continue to create opportunities for women, and drive legislation that promotes the rights of women in Lagos State.”
