“It is a promise kept, one we made in the campaign to ensure no part of the state is left behind in our pursuit of exponential economic growth. On completion, it will reduce travel time between Enugu and Nsukka to 30 minutes, making it easier for residents to live in Nsukka and work in Enugu or vice versa, and also strengthening both bonds of unity and economic potentials.

Our administration’s grassroots-based development and economic model place Nsukka zone at an advantage. We are doing projects based on electoral wards, and Nsukka zone with 102 wards benefits the most from this model. The zone will end up with 102 smart schools, 102 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centers, and more than 1,000 km of roads, since we also want to build at least 10 km of roads per ward.

The support today was overwhelming. To the resilient people of Nsukka and all who share in our vision, I am deeply thankful. I extend special appreciation to our royal father, the Igwe of Edem Ani and Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, and other leaders of the zone for their kind words and steadfast belief in this project.

We are on track to building the Enugu State of our dreams – a stronger, more connected state that stands as a beacon of growth and limitless opportunities. We have only just begun.”
