Carlos Espi Escrihuela, Spanish forward, has received an official welcome at Real Madrid after the top flight game against Real Madrid on Saturday 22 August, 2026.
Espi, a former Levante player from 2024 to 2026, netted the winner for the Los Blancos very late, in the 90th minute, to help Jose Mourinho’s side emerge victorious with a slim 2-1 win on the road.
Via an official statement on Real Madrid official website, Espi put pen to paper on a contract that will keep at Santiago Bernabeu for the next five (5) seasons, until June 30, 2031.
The contest which took place at RCDE Stadium had Real Madrid go in front early, in the 9th minute, through midfielder, Jude Bellingham, but, the home side rallied and levelled through A. Calatrava in the 30th minute.
The game continued without a goal until Espi came on to rescue the visitors in the last minute of the showdown. Espi was introduced as replacement for Bellingham in the 80th minute.
In the official statement, Real Madrid wrote: “The Real Madrid City hosted the official welcome ceremony for Carlos Espà as a new player of Real Madrid.”
Espi was welcomed by Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, in the boardroom where the contract was signed. The Spaniard, who will wear shirt number 19, was handed a replica of the Club Stadium.
Real Madrid further wrote: “After the signing, Espà received a replica of the stadium, a watch, and a jersey with his name and the number 19.”

Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad in the La Liga 2026/27 match on Wednesday 26 August, 2026 at Santiago Bernabeu at 20:00 (WAT).
