Chinese New Year also called Spring Festival is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.

This marks the end of winter and beginning of spring; the date of the Chinese New Year is not fixed – in 2024, it was on 10 February, and now in 2025, it is on Wednesday 29 January, 2024.

The Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in the Chinese culture. It is celebrated worldwide in places and countries with huge Overseas Chinese or Sinophone populations.

It is linked with several myths and customs. Traditionally, the festival was  a time to honour deities as well as ancestors.
