Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola; and Everton manager, David Moyes, have both reacted following their 3-3 draw in the Premier League clash on Monday night at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The six-goal thriller lowered Manchester City’s hopes for the Premier League title and placed Arsenal in a commanding position.
In his explanation to the outcome, Guardiola said, “many things happened” as he found it difficult to pinpoint the actual reason why his side were unable to clinch maximum points on the road.
According to Manchester City via X, the Spaniard described the Toffees as “incredibly aggressive”, saying, his side were in control in the first half, but, Everton shocked them in the second half with their resilience.
At his post-match press conference, Everton boss, Moyes, expressed disappointment following the result; he said, “We let ourselves down” as he blamed “poor” defending which led to City’s comeback.
Guardiola reacted: “It’s better to have a point than no point. It would be better to win the game than have the point.
“Many things happened. The difficulty of the opponent, incredibly aggressive. We were there in the first half and exceptional then second half they make a step up.”
The former Barcelona manager said, Everton are “so good” when it comes to set pieces, adding, he will continue to work towards winning the title.
Guardiola further reacted: “We gave away the first goal then from the corner they are so good with set pieces. We have momentum and two goals, the third was outstanding. It was in our hands but now it’s not.
“We will continue and see what happens.”
In his reaction, Moyes said: “We let ourselves down because we defended the second goal so poorly. That was probably the main reason for it. But at half-time we would have certainly taken this result because we were hugely outplayed in the first half.
“So maybe a bit disappointed but getting a point against Manchester City is not a bad result. But when you’re 3-1 up, you’re thinking you’re in with a great chance of winning.”
