A man who was apprehended on suspicion of racially abusing AFC Bournemouth forward, Antoine Semenyo, in the opening game of the Premier League 2025/26 has been banned from every football stadium in the UK as part of his bail conditions.
In the 29th minute, the top flight showdown between Bournemouth and Liverpool was briefly paused after Semenyo reported to the referee that he had been racially abused.
Merseyside Police disclosed, the man, 47 years of age, from Liverpool, who was nabbed on Saturday on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence, has been bailed conditionally.
The conditions include a ban on attending any regulated football game in the United Kingdom (UK) and not going within one mile of a designated football stadium.
The Force revealed, it was collaborating with Liverpool Football Club, and that, investigation into the incident was ongoing.
Following the incident, the Ghana international expressed his gratitude to his teammates and the entire football family for standing by him, also thanked the Premier League for handling the matter “professionally”.
In the encounter, Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 4-2.
