‘Good News’ – Starmer and Macron reacts to reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Keir Starmer, and President of France, Emmanuel Macron, have reacted following the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Starmer described the development as “good news” on X, and, announced a joint plan with France to ensure the protection of “freedom of navigation”.

Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran; and Donald Trump, President of the United States (US), have announced, the Statute of Hormuz is open to commercial vessels.

PM Starmer reacted: “It’s good news that the Strait of Hormuz has now reopened.

“This must be a long lasting and workable solution, without tolls or restrictions on routes.

“Today we announced our joint plan with France and other international partners to protect freedom of navigation.”

Araghchi declared via X, the strategic waterway was “completely open”.

The Iranian Foreign Minister posted: “…the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open…”

France alongside fifty (50) countries are making moves to ensure “freedom of navigation” in the Hormuz Strait, Macron declared via X.

The French President said: “Alongside more than fifty countries, we are carrying an initiative for freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”

According to Al Jazeera:

Trump affirmed on social media that the strait was open, later claiming that Iran had agreed to “never close the Strait of Hormuz again”. However, he also posted that the US naval blockade on Iranian ports would “remain in full force”.
