Max Dowman found the back of the net twice to help Arsenal cruise past Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup 2026/27 third round match on Tuesday 15 September, 2026 at Portman Road in Ipswich.
The victory takes Arsenal to the forth round of the tournament.
Dowman, sixteen (16) years of age, was one of the two juveniles making their first appearances of the season from the start, alongside 17-year old English defender, Marli Salmon.
Early, in the 7th minute, Dowman was located by Eberechi Eze’s assist, and the English attacking midfielder made sure to convert to give the Gunners the lead.
In the 16th minute, Noni Madueke netted the second for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners; and just two (2) minutes after the break, Dowman netted his second and third for Arsenal with an assist from Martin Zubimendi. After controling the Spanish defensive midfielder’s pass, Dowman rolled the ball into the far bottom corner.
Mikel Merino scored the fourth for the visitors in the 58th minute, but, the Tractor Boys pulled one back in the 62nd minute through Anis Mehmeti’s finish from Jack Clarke’s pass.
And, in the 1st minute of additional time, Chuba Akpom scored Ipswich Town’s second to finish the game 4-2.
Both sides made a combined nineteen (19) changes for the game.
Arsenal are still unbeaten in the 2026/27 season in all competitions, winning every game. They will wait to discover their EFL Cup fourth round opponents on Wednesday.
