Kylian Mbappe was on target for Real Madrid and recorded a stoppage time assist to help the Los Blancos clinch maximum points in the La Liga 2026/27 match against Elche on Tuesday 15 September, 2026 at Estadio Martinez Valero.
Carlos EspĂ tapped in a winner in loss time with an assist from Mbappe as Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid defeated Elche 3-2 in the game that had the visitors throw away their two-goal lead.
The victory means Real Madrid have now climbed level on points with Barcelona at the top of standings.
A summer signing from Spanish side, Levante, Espi, came off the bench to rescue the Los Blancos with his goal. It is the second time the Spanish forward is rescuing Real Madrid this season, he netted a winner in the last minute on his debut at Espanyol on the opening day.
The visitors went in front in the 25th minute with an own goal from Elche goalkeeper Matias Dituro, and Mbappe added the second in the 33rd minute with Yan Diomande’s assist.
The goal was Mbappe’s seventh in six (6) League games this season.
But, the home side fought back and struck through Abiel Osorio midway through the second half, in the 71st minute, and substitute Fer Nino launched a leveller in the 83rd minute.
However, Elche’s celebration ended when EspĂ converted Mbappe’s assist in the 1st minute of additional time to hand Real Madrid all three (3) points.
Mourinho helped his side bounce back after a shocking lone goal defeat against Real Betis by discomfiting Inter Milan in last week’s Uefa Champions League 2026/27 opener and won 4-1 at Santiago Bernabeu against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
A header by Dean Huijsen from an Arda GĂĽler cross was well denied by Elche goalkeeper Dituro, while Osorio was wasteful with his effort. The home side ensured to hold on and run home victorious.
