Chelsea suffered a huge loss in the hands of Brentford in the Premier League match on Friday 18 September, 2026, conceding three (3) unreplied goals right inside the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.
The humiliation in the West London derby means Coach Xabi Alonso’s Blues’ defensive and set-piece troubles continue.
The stunning victory was extremely easy for the Bees as they stung their visitors really hard in the contest that produced the first goal in the second half after a goalless first 45 minutes.
Brentford went in front through Jaidon Anthony with Jannik Schuster’s assist. The English left winger ensured to head home after being left unmarked.
As the Blues were fighting for a leveller, Brentford struck their second in the 83rd minute through Igor Thiago. Kevin Schade manoeuvred through, but, his one-on-one was saved by goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, before the Brazilian forward struck home from close range.
Thiago’s goal put to an end his goalllessness after seven (7) games.
Just when it looked like the goals had stopped coming, the home side found their third through Fabio Carvalho deep in additional time, in the 4th minute, to make it 3-0 on Friday night in the English Capital.
It was Carvalho’s first goal since suffering an injury that kept him away from action for almost a year; the unmarked Portuguese attacking midfielder converted a cross from Schade to seal the win for the Bees.
This outcome means Chelsea have now conceded twelve (12) goals in five (5) Premier League games, the most in the League. The Blues are still waiting for their first top flight clean sheet of the season.
Apparently, Alonso’s side were missing the services of Joao Pedro, who is currently injured, while, English striker, Danny Welbeck, was unable to forge any brilliant chance in his place.
Cole Palmer was outstanding in the showdown for the visitors, however, the Blues never really threatened their hosts, and returned home with their tails between their legs.
Next for Brentford and Chelsea?
