The United States (US) has departed more than 100 Venezuelans on Monday on a repatriation flight; happening for the first time since the deadly earthquakes tore the South American country to pieces in late June.
Before June, hundreds of Venezuelans have been deported by the administration of Trump, however, the move to continue sending them back was halted after more than 7-magnitude earthquakes struck the country consecutively.
The back-to-back earthquakes killed more than 6,000 people in Venezuela, with several structures destroyed.
The last flight loaded with more than 100 Venezuelans landed in the country just hours before the earthquake struck.
According to CNN:
Many of those on that flight were killed when a hotel they were being housed at collapsed in the quake.
On Monday, a plane carrying more than 120 Venezuelan migrants took off from the State of Miami and landed in Anzoátegui state.
The flight landed at General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport, Barcelona. Before the earthquake hit the country, the last flight landed at the country’s main Simón BolÃvar International Airport, which suffered huge damage due to the tremor.
