‘Brother you have made our parents feel proud’ – Inaki Williams congratulates Nico Williams on World Cup 2026 win with Spain

Inaki Williams has sent his tribute to his brother, Nico Williams, after winning the FIFA World Cup 2026 with Spain.

Both play for the same club in Spain, Athletic Bilbao, however, the older, Inaki, chose to play for Ghana, while, the younger, Nico, chose to field for Spain.

32-year old Inaki wrote via X, his 24-year old brother has “made history” and “made our parents feel proud”, as well as, “millions of immigrants that their future children might one day live what you’ve lived”.

Spain emerged new Kings of the World on Sunday 19 July, 2026 after defeating Argentina by a lone goal in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final in New York, United States (US). It was Nico’s assist that was powerfully converted by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute that handed the Luis De La Fuente’s La Roja the victory.

In his congratulatory message, Inaki Williams wrote: “Brother

“You’ve won the World Cup. You’ve made history.

“But beyond the trophy, thank you for this: you’ve made millions of immigrants like our parents feel proud that their future children might one day live what you’ve lived, and that millions of Spaniards empathize with our story,

“which isn’t just ours but that of all the people who leave everything behind for a better future, because you’ve touched the sky with your fingertips and you’ve shown that with hard work and effort, anything is possible.

“Today the world has come to know you even more, if that’s possible, and you’ve put our last name in the stars, forever and ever.

“I admire you. I love you. World Champion”

Spain have now won the World Cup a record two (2) times in 2010 and 2026.
