As the kick off of the FIFA World Cup 2026 draws nigh, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has said, fans are “permitted” to enter venues of matches in the United States (US) and Canada with “one, soft, factory sealed disposable water bottle”.
The World Football Governing Body explained, the move is for “safety and security reasons”.
A Statement from FIFA reads: “All fans will be permitted to bring in one, soft, plastic, 20 ounces (590ml), factory sealed disposable water bottle into any FIFA World Cup 2026 match in the USA and Canada.”
Heimo Schirgi, CEO of FIFA World Cup 2026, explained, no fan will be allowed to bring in “hard-sided” water bottle.
The Statement further reads: “As FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Operating Officer, Heimo Schirgi, explains, fans will not be permitted to bring in hard sided, reusable water bottles due to safety and security reasons.”
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is fashioned to become the biggest World Cup in history as it features an expanded participation encompassing forty-eight (48) Nations and a record-shattering 104 matches played across sixteen (16) host cities in the United States (US), Canada, and Mexico.
Formerly, the competition featured thirty-two (32) teams.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off on Thursday 11 June, 2026 and conclude on Sunday 19 July, 2026.
