Liverpool emerged victorious in the Premier League 2026/27 match against smoking-hot Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield, winning 2-0, on Sunday 25 October, 2026.
Victory was sealed for the Reds after Swedish striker, Alexander Isak’s goal was added to an own goal by Pascal Groß.
In his post-victory presser, Liverpool head coach, Andoni Iraola, expressed “happiness” after his side downed an in-form Brighton in the top flight clash.
Groß’s goal helped the Reds to the opener after striking the back of his own net in the 17th minute, and, in the 21st minute, former Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) French forward, Bradley Barcola, provided for Isak who netted the second to hand the home side maximum points.
The outcome means, Liverpool have now secured four (4) wins back-to-back, and are now placed 4th in the Premier League standings with fifteen (15) points, while, Brighton remain 3rd with sixteen (16) points.
According to Liverpool FC official website, Reds manager, Iraola, said, he is “very happy” after winning four (4) times successively.
On Sweden striker, Isak, the Spaniard said, the former Newcastle United goal machine will score more goals if the “crosses and good situations” are provided.
At his post-Brighton press conference, Iraola said:
On four (4) consecutive wins…
“Very happy. Very happy for today, very happy overall for these four wins. I think we had today a very good opposition in front, similar to Villarreal the other day – teams that technically are really good.
“It’s difficult to defend them a lot of times.”
On Alexander Isak…
“He’s a striker if we can put him in those positions, we can provide him with crosses, good situations, he will score the goals.”
The contest on Sunday had the Seagulls make attempts at goal, with Yasin Ayari shooting wastefully over the top after an amazing move from the visitors.
Ayari’s wasted effort cost the Seagulls as it led to the opener for the hosts when German forward, Florian Wirtz’ effort which was on its way wide was diverted into the net of Brighton by German defensive midfielder, Groß.
Manager Fabian Hürzeler’s side almost found their way back into the showdown when Reds goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, threw away possession when playing out for the back, however, Ayari’s shot rebounded off the foot of the right-hand post.
