Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Peter Obi, held meetings with some British politics and business stakeholders in London, including, the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), Lord Jonathan Marland.
The conversation between Obi and Lord Marland focused on “prospective trade opportunities, economic advancement, and the promotion of small businesses throughout Nigeria”, the former Governor of Anambra State revealed via X.
Obi said: “It is clear that fostering a robust economy and generating employment, as evidenced by rapidly growing nations like China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, necessitates a concerted effort to prioritise support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.”
The former Labour Party (LP) member said, he has always declared that, Nigeria’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) “serve as the driving force behind economic growth”.
Obi added, it has become necessary that, these MSMEs are provided with “vigorous support” to strengthen “development and create significant employment opportunities”, especially in the areas of agriculture and manufacturing.
