Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, believes for development in any country, health must be a top priority.
The former Labour Party (LP) member said, “Health is No 1 critical for development”, adding, there is the need for investment in human infrastructure.
Obi made the statement in Bauchi State, where he met with the Executive Governor, Bala Mohammed; and visited the Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul, Qur’an, Yelwa, Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) member since 2025, also made known, he visited Thomas Moore School of Health, Sciences and Technology, Bauchi.
Via X, Obi said, he had paid the Institution a visit in the past and made a donation of “₦10 million”, which the management of the Institution said, “contributed immensely to modernising their laboratories”.
During his visit in the Northeastern State, Obi disclosed, he donated another “₦10 million”, which will be used to support scholarships.
He said: “Health is No 1 critical for development and we must invest in the human infrastructure needed for that development.”
Obi said, he visited Madarasatu Intisharu Islam Qismu in Bauchi, where he had supported them with “₦5 million” in the past, upon seeing that, the money was used to provide chairs, as well as, other items for the School, and the overall improvement, he was “glad” and donated an additional “₦5 million to support the scholarship of indigent students”
