Ogun State: ‘Energy Transition Programme’ – Govt to release 2,000 e-bikes with ‘aim to reduce carbon footprint’

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, announced, “We will be releasing 2,000 e-bikes in this first phase”, adding, “these commercial motorbikes can ride up to 80 km on a full charge”.

The Governor said, “We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and bring about a significant change in how we think about transportation in our daily lives”, and that, the move “aligns perfectly with our Energy Transition Roadmap for a cleaner environment”.

Few days ago, he launched electric bikes, tricycles and CNG tricycles in the State.

Governor Abiodun announced: “Through the launch of these electric bikes, tricycles, electric vehicles, CNG tricycles, and battery swap stations at specific points, we are not just introducing a new mode of transportation; we are pioneering a movement towards a cleaner, more efficient, and technologically advanced way of life.


“We will be releasing 2,000 e-bikes in this first phase. These commercial motorbikes can ride up to 80 km on a full charge and vehicles up to 200 km, reducing transport costs by up to 40 percent.


We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and bring about a significant change in how we think about transportation in our daily lives. This aligns perfectly with our Energy Transition Roadmap for a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.”
