Cameroon are through to the final of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 after a 3-1 victory over Morocco in a penalty shootout in the semi final on Wednesday 12 August, 2026 in Rabat.
The showdown went into penalties following a goalless outcome after 120 minutes.
Marie Ngah, Rose Bella and Myriam Nyadjou converted three (3) kicks for Cameroon in the shootout, while, the host nation managed to find the back of the net once through Hanane Aït El Haj.
The victory for the West African side is coming after they successfully ousted the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the quarter final of the tournament by a lone goal in Casablanca.
The outcome in Rabat takes Cameroon straight into their fourth WAFCON final and shatters Morocco’s hopes of reaching the continental showpiece for a third successive edition.
The Cameroonians were organized all through the contest and ensured every effort from their North African opponents got frustrated as both sides were unable to breakthrough before the end of regulation time.
The Indomitable Lionesses are yet to lift the WAFCON trophy, however, have finished runners-up three (3) times after finishing second in the tournament final in 2004, 2014 and 2016; they will be looking to win their first WAFCON title when they face Malawi in the final.
Malawi defeated Algeria 3-1 in the semi fInal on Tuesday 11 August, 2026 to reach the final; the Malawians stunned the Super Falcons with a 3-2 victory in their Group C opener.
The final between Malawi and Cameroon will take place on Sunday 16 August, 2026 at 20:00 (WAT) at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
