Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) says, Team Base Camps (TBC) are a highly crucial part of the FIFA World Cup organisation and experience.
With the aim to enlarge the excitement, as well as, the impact of the tournament, twenty-five (25) communities that will not host matches have been selected to welcome teams.
Thirty-nine (39) teams will be located in the United States (US), seven (7) in Mexico and two (2) in Canada.
Another huge organisational milestone has been attained on the road toward the revolutionary FIFA World Cup 2026, with the record qualified forty-eight (48) teams wrapping up their Team Base Camps (TBC) Training Sites.
The 48 TBC Training Sites in the United States of America (USA), Mexico and Canada will play an essential role for the nations participating as they gear up to compete in the biggest FIFA World Cup ever.
The world-class training facilities each nation has selected will become their “home away from home”, as well as, serve as the venue where their players, coaches and staff will spend a significant part of their time throughout the preliminaries.
Chief Operating Officer of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Heimo Schirgi, said: “Team Base Camps are an integral part of the fabric of any FIFA World Cup.
“They are where teams put down roots, train and recuperate, and experience the day-to-day rhythms of the tournament.
“Finalising the list of Team Base Camp Training Sites for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is especially exciting because of its unprecedented scale, which gives us the welcome and wonderful opportunity to involve even more communities and fans in this groundbreaking tournament.”
Seven (7) participating teams based in Mexico are; Colombia, IR Iran, Korea Republic, Mexico, South Africa, Tunisia and Uruguay. Both Canada and Panama will have their TBC Training Sites in Canada. The remaining thirty-nine (39) teams located in the United States (US).
