The demotion of the immediate former Kings of Nigeria is coming following their extremely poor run in the NPFL 2025/26, finishing the season in the red zone.

In the top flight match on Sunday 24 May, 2026, Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance finished 1-1; an outcome that left the the Club based in Ikenne, Ogun State on the 17th spot of standings with forty-seven (47) points.

In the statement, the club described the relegation as “heartbreaking”, saying, its focus is now shifted on “rebuilding with purpose and determination”.

The Statement reads: “Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Remo Stars will now compete in the Nigeria National League for next season.

“This outcome is heartbreaking for everyone connected to the club, our supporters, players, staff, management and the entire Remo Stars family who have invested their emotions, energy and belief into this journey.

“We understand the disappointment and frustration this season has brought. The expectations attached to this club were high and rightly so. Unfortunately, we did not deliver the performance or consistency required to maintain our place in the division.

“We take full responsibility for that failure.

“Remo Stars remains a club built on vision, ambition, hard work, and the unwavering spirit of our community.

“To our fans who filled the stands, supported the team online, and stood by us even during our darkest moments; thank you. Your loyalty means everything, and we recognize that we owe you much more than what this season produced.

“Our focus now turns towards rebuilding with purpose and determination. Important decisions will be made and every effort will be directed toward returning the club to where it belongs.”
