Barcelona 3-1 Real Betis: Catalans bid emotional farewell to Lewandowski

Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, had an emotional final home game for Barcelona on Sunday night and received tribute from fans.

Lewandowski is now part of Barcelona’s history officially.

The Poland Captain fielded in his final home game for Barcelona in the La Liga match against Real Betis on Sunday 17 May, 2026 at Camp Nou, a game the Catalans won 3-1.

Lewy received emotional farewell from Barca fans following his announcement on Saturday that he will part ways with the Club at the conclusion of the season.

According to the Club’s official website, after the final whistle, Lewandowski was handed the mic, and in his address to supporters, said: “It’s been a very emotional and difficult day for me.

“When I arrived at Barça, I knew it was a huge club, but I’ve lived through an incredible chapter here. From the very first day I felt at home and I’ll never forget hearing you sing my name.

“Thanks to my teammates and all the coaches. It’s been an honour to play for this club. We’ve shared great moments and I’m proud of everything we achieved. Once a culer, always a culer. Visca el Barça! Visca Catalunya!”

Just as head coach, Hansi Flick, made known prior to Sunday’s match, Lewandowski started as both Captain and centre-forward in Barcelona’s second-to-last League game of the season.

The aura had already become special prior to kick-off, with thousands of shirts bearing Lewandowski’s number 9 filled the stands, and when the striker’s name was mentioned over the speakers in the Stadium, the whole venue exploded in applause.

Lewandowski is leaving Camp Nou after four (4) seasons. He emerged the Club’s 14th highest scorer of all time, with 119 goals in 192 appearances; winning seven (7) trophies, including, 3 La Liga titles (2022/23, 2024/25 and 2025/26), 1 Copa del Rey (2024/25), and, 3 Spanish Super Cups (2022/23, 2024/25 and 2025/26).

In the 84th minute, Flick replaced Lewandowski with M. Casado, and that was when emotions rose to the highest. The entire Camp Nou stood up to give Lewy an enormous standing ovation.

Raphinha netted a brace for Barcelona in the 28th and 62nd minutes; Isco pulled one back for Real Betis from the penalty spot in the 69th minute, and Joao Cancelo netted the third for the home side in the 74th minute with Pedri’s assist to seal the win for Barca.
