Nigeria’s MFA meets with traditional rulers in Ghana over protests against Nigerians in the country

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, has had series of meetings with Traditional rulers, community leaders, the Nigerian Community in Ghana following protests against Nigerians living in Ghana.

The Nigerian Minister said, the meeting was aimed at “finding solutions and building a more harmonious relationship” between Nigeria and Ghana.

In their meeting recently, President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, assured the Nigerian Minister of the protection of the lives, property, businesses of Nigerians living in the country.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu made known via X: “During our intervention mediation efforts in Ghana we had a series of meetings with Traditional rulers, community leaders, the Nigerian Community in Ghana from the different regions, and several stakeholders, including those involved in the crisis with a view to finding solutions and building a more harmonious relationship, going forward , between our Nationals and their hosts.

“Our appreciation also goes to the Ghanaian traditional institutions for their critical role in helping douse the tensions , notably the Ashanti King, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu11, Community leaders such as the Borgu Wolomo and many other stakeholders too numerous to mention.”
