The district attorney’s office said, a man was charged on Thursday with murder and burglary counts in the fatal shootings of “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband in their home in Los Angeles, California, last week.
22-year old Raymond Boodarian could be slammed with life in prison in the July 10 shooting deaths of Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both 70, after the couple returned home while he was burglarizing the residence, officials said.
Los Angeles police reveled, Kaye, who has been with “American Idol” since 2009, alongside her husband were discovered lifeless in their Encino home on Monday after police carried out a welfare check and found blood at the door.
Prosecutors allege the couple were shot on July 10 after they came back home from the grocery store to find Boodarian inside the home.
In a statement, Nathan J. Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney, said, “In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home as they returned from the grocery store.”
According to officials, Boodarian is believed to have entered the home at 4 p.m. through an unlocked door.
Police disclosed, Boodarian was arrested on Tuesday, and he appeared in court Thursday for an arraignment, which was postponed until Aug. 20.
Records reveal Boodarian was represented by the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. It did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
The Police Department made known, Police were called to the home of the couple on the day of the burglary and murder for a report of a possible burglary, however, officers didn’t see any evidence of a crime.
