13th President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, said, he had a meeting with His Excellency, Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, alongside Senators of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Strategy and Way Forward Committee, Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Saraki said on X (@bukolasaraki): “We didn’t sidestep the issues. We confronted the fractures in our foundation, asked the hard questions, and began shaping a real, workable plan to move our party forward.”
He said, he still has faith in the ‘Umbrella’ Party, saying, if the members are “willing to do the hard work”, then, the Party has a lot “it can still become'”.
Saraki’s meeting in Enugu State is coming after Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside Ifeanyi Okowa, former Governor of the South-South State and former 2023 Vice Presidential candidate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and all PDP members of the State, dumped the PDP and joined the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oborevwori said, his decision to join the ‘Broom’ Party is “for the best interest of Delta State.”

Saraki said: “I believe in the PDP. I believe in what it has stood for and what it can still become, if we’re willing to do the hard, unglamorous work of rebuilding from the inside out. The road ahead won’t be easy. It will test us and demand more from each of us. But I leave Enugu more convinced than ever: we have the people, the resolve, and the clarity to rise to the occasion—and to lead again.
