On Thursday 20 August, 2026, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially commissioned the Oyo State APC Campaign Office, and, inaugurated the Governorship Campaign Council.
The move is in preparation for the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.
Yilwatda explained, the Campaign Office will be a “strategic” spot for “grassroot mobilisation”, while, the Campaign Council will make available the “leadership and direction” the Party requires to succeed in its campaign across the Southwestern State.
He said: “The campaign office will serve as a strategic centre for grassroots mobilisation, coordination and engagement, while the Campaign Council will provide the leadership and direction needed to drive our campaign across the state.”
The APC Chief announced Senator Sharafadeen Alli will be the Party’s Governorship candidate as he expressed “confidence” that, the ruling Party will conduct a “people-oriented” campaign.
Yilwatda said: “With Senator Sharafadeen Alli as our governorship candidate, and with the commitment and collective strength of the entire Oyo APC family, I am confident that we will run a focused, united and people-oriented campaign.”
He made clear the mission of the ‘Broom’ Party, which is to “build” on the achievements of the APC, expressing his belief that, with “unity and determination”, the Party will emerge victorious in the 2027 Oyo State Governorship Election.

Yilwatda said: “Our mission is clear: strengthen our party, deepen our connection with the people, communicate our vision of renewed hope, and build on the progress of the All Progressives Congress.
“Together, with unity and determination, we will work towards a resounding APC victory in Oyo State in 2027.”
