Vice President of the United States (US), JD Vance, who alongside his wife and second Lady of the US, Usha Vance, visited Italy “this weekend” where he met with Pope Francis and the Prime Minister of Italy, Meloni.
The White House had earlier announced, the US VP with his wife will travel to India and Italy.
Vance said, “It was an honor to meet with Pope Francis, Prime Minister Meloni, and Church officials in Italy this weekend.”

Pope Francis , Head of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State, passed on Easter Monday at the age of eighty-eight (88).
Vance wrote: “It was an honor to meet with Pope Francis, Prime Minister Meloni, and Church officials in Italy this weekend.
“Visiting Rome with my family during Holy Week was an incredible experience.”
The US VP further wrote: “I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis. My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him. I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful. May God rest his soul.”
