Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said he left an “undefeated platform in Lagos” to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy Khadri Obafemi Hamzat and leaders of the Governor’s Advisory Council, before moving to Abuja to focus on the 2023 presidential elections.

Tinubu went ahead to say that, his decision to move to Abuja didn’t come easy as he was filled with “doubts and uncertainties” as to what “would be the fate of the party” in Lagos.
However, the APC presidential candidate, said, he always kept in touch to ensure all was going well with the party in Lagos, and confessed that the reports he got constantly filled him with “courage and confidence” to continue with his political “engagements in Abuja”, as the 2023 presidential election draws nigh.
With the reports Tinubu receives, he concluded the APC in Lagos has gotten stronger despite his absence in the state.
The former Governor of Lagos State, did not hesitate to show gratitude to all the APC leaders in the state for their efforts towards strengthening the party more and more, he said, “for keeping the party stronger, I thank all of our leaders”.
Tinubu said, “I left Lagos for Abuja, leaving the party members with Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, leaders of Governor’s Advisory Council and other party leaders.
“They are the ones who released me to go to Abuja to contest.
“I left with many doubts and I was uncertain about what would be the fate of the party. I was constantly in touch with the Governor and his deputy.
“Sometimes, I would call the party chairman and ask them if we were doing the right thing in Lagos.
“The reports they always gave me gave me more courage and confidence to move on with my engagements in Abuja.
“I thank all of our leaders for keeping the party stronger.
“I handed over to you an undefeated platform in Lagos.
“The manner with which the party affairs have been conducted showed these people have fairly managed the home base.”
