Uzodimma hail security agencies over successful rescue of 20 Corps members abducted along Onitsha-Owerri road

Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has praised security agencies for successfully rescuing twenty (20) prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Corps members were abducted along the Onitsha-Owerri road “while on their way to their respective States of service”, Uzodimma said.

The Governor made known on X, his government has not stopped to “strengthen” the State’s “security and intelligence” to prevent crime and accelerate “swift rescue” works where needed.

Uzodimma posted: “I commend the gallantry of our security agencies over the successful rescue of the 20 prospective Corps Members who were abducted along the Onitsha–Owerri Road while on their way to their respective States of service.

“While crime may never be completely eradicated, we have continued to strengthen our security architecture and intelligence network across the State to forestall criminal activities and facilitate swift rescue operations where necessary.”

The Governor thanked the government of Oyo State for their “collaboration” in the operation, which he described as “all-important”.

He also expressed gratitude to families of the abductees for their “patience and faith” all through the operation, and, urged Imolites to show the same faith in the security agencies as they carry out their duties.

Uzodimma further posted: “I remain grateful to the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government for their collaboration and support in this all-important assignment. To the glory of God, our security agencies pulled through.

“I also commend the families and relatives of the prospective Corps Members for their patience, resilience and faith throughout the operation. I urge our people to demonstrate the same faith and support our security agencies in the discharge of their duties.”
