A late deflected strike from Matheus Cunha helped Manchester United return home with one (1) point after finishing 1-1 in the Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday 20 September, 2026.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder’s leveller hindered the Cottagers from clinching their first top flight win of the season.
After a first half that finished without a goal, the home side took the lead in the 63rd minute when Reds Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez, struck the back of his own post. The own goal almost handed Manchester United their third successive defeat.
The visitors fought back and levelled late, in the 89th minute, through Cunha after his strike from twenty (20) yards deflected off Fulham centre-back David Affengruber, went past goalkeeper Bernd Leno, after being wrongfooted and hit the corner of the net.
Leno had made series of big saves as Michael Carrick’s side hustled for a leveller.
The outcome means Manchester United have successfully avoided a third back-to-back defeat in a week, and head into the international break below top ten (10).
Manchester United sit on the 12th spot with five (5) points, while, Fulham are 19th with two (2) points, both after five (5) games.
