‘We have to work seriously and professionally’ – Bayern Coach Kompany ahead of Summer Tour match against Jeju SK

Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich head coach, has said, his side will have to “work seriously and professionally” when they lock horns against South Korean Club, Jeju SK.

Bayern Munich and Jeju SK will clash in the Audi Summer Tour match on Tuesday 4 August, 2026 at Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, South Korea at 12:00 (WAT).

The former Burnley manager made the statement at his pre-Jeju SK presser on Monday 3 August, 2026.

According to Bayern Munich via X, When asked on the hospitality in South Korea, Kompany expressed his gratitude for the “warm” welcome, saying, his side have the “best” condition to field against the Jeju SK, that features in K League 1, the highest level in the South Korean Football League System.

Kompany added, the “most important thing” is for the Bavarians to “keep our heads in the game” against The Tangerines.

At his pre-match press conference, Kompany said:

On South Korea’s hospitality so far…

“I’d like to first thank everyone for the very warm welcome we’ve received since arriving on Jeju. I believe these trips are part of the preparation for most teams – that’s why it’s the most important thing is that we can travel, train, and play under the best conditions. This will be a very positive part for us in the preparation.”

On the Audi Summer Tour…

“The first thing I told the players was: We arrive and it’s part of this week that we also have to fulfill promotional and media appointments. Also games in another country. But it’s the preparation; we have to work seriously and professionally, doing everything just like we do in Munich or anywhere else.

“We have to keep our heads in the game, that’s the most important thing. But we’re used to it, and it’s part of the preparation for most teams.”

Also, at the pre-match presser was Kim Min-Jae, South Korean defender.

When asked about the Audi Summer Tour, the centre-back said, he is “happy” to be in his home country with his teammates; describing it as a “special time” for himself.

Bayern Munich are in Asia for their 10th Audi Summer Tour, which kicked off on Saturday 1 August, 2026 and will conclude on Saturday 8 August, 2026. First to Jeju, a South Korean Island, and then to Hong Kong.

During their trip, Bayern Munich will play against two Audi Football Summits, Jeju SK, and English Premier League side, Aston Villa, on 7 August at the Kai Tak Stadium.

Min-Jae added, the game against Jeju SK will help the German Bundesliga 2025/26 Champions “learn a lot”.

At the pre-match press conference, Min-Jae said:

On the Audi Summer Tour…

“I’m very happy to be here with the team; it’s a very special time for me in Korea. Tomorrow we face Jeju SK, and we’ll be able to learn a lot from each other there. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Vincent Kompany, Belgian professional football manager, also a former player, emerged Bayern Munich manager after parting ways with English Club, Burnley FC, in 2024.

Since taking over managerial functions at Allianz Arena, Kompany has guided the Bavarians to two (2) Bundesliga titles (2024/25, 2025/26).
