Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest: Munoz levels to salvage point for Iraola’s Reds at Anfield

Spanish forward, Victor Munoz, found the back of the net to level for Liverpool late as the Reds finished 2-2 in the Premier League 2026/27 match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday 29 August, 2026 at Anfield.

The contest was heading towards a loss for Andoni Iraola’s Reds in his first Premier League match at Anfield as head coach of Liverpool when Morgan Gibbs-White made it two for the Tricky Trees from the penalty spot.

The Spanish manager is yet to clinch a win in the new season with the Reds after his first Premier League match against Newcastle United ended 2-2 at St. James’ Park last weekend.

Swiss winger, Dan Ndoye, opened the scoring for Nottingham Forest in the 24th minute with an assist from Gibbs-White.

A leveller from Florian Wirtz for the hosts in the 32nd minute was struck out Video Assistant Referee (VAR), but, after much struggles, Liverpool equalized through former Newcastle United forward, Alexander Isak, in the 60th minute.

Ten (10) minutes later, Gibbs-White restored Nottingham Forest’s lead with the second from the penalty spot, but, the Reds managed to pull one (1) point out of the showdown after Munoz levelled in the 82nd minute, converting Wirtz’ assist.

A frustrating result as both sides continue their search for their first top flight win of the season.

On the other sides of Saturday’s games, Frank Lampard’s Coventry City suffered another defeat, falling by a lone goal at home to Hull City that humiliated Michael Carrick’s Manchester United last weekend 2-0.

The victory for the Tigers against the Reds at MKM Stadium was inspired by Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Semi Ajayi. A win for the hosts in their Premier League return.

And, Tottenham Hotspur losing 0-2 to Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
