Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, has joined in the celebration of Enugu Rangers’ victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after the Club emerged the new Kings of Nigeria.
Taking to X to celebrate, Mbah said, the NPFL triumph came following “hardwork and sacrifice”; he added, the Flying Antelopes fought “until the very end”.
Truly, Rangers International really fought for the trophy after being closely trailed by Port Harcourt-based Rivers United by just one (1) point; even a draw in Lagos would have deprived the Southeastern Club the title.
Enugu Rangers, also known as, Rangers International, clinched their 9th NPFL title after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 in the final top flight match of the season on Sunday 24 May, 2026 at Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
The Governor praised the players, coaching crew, management of the Club for their “incredible efforts” towards winning the title.
In his congratulatory message to Enugu Rangers, Governor Mbah wrote: “Champions are not built in a single match. They are built through hard work, sacrifice, discipline, and the courage to keep fighting until the very end.
“Rangers International F.C. has always represented something deeper for Ndi Enugu, pride, identity, resilience, and the belief that no matter the challenge, we rise again.
“This historic 9th league title is a testament to the incredible effort of the players, coaching crew, management, backroom staff, and every single person who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this moment possible.”
Expressing his joy, Mbah said, the win belongs to every supporter, every former player, and every young child with the dream to flaunt the Enugu Rangers colours.
Governor Mbah further wrote: “This victory also belongs to every supporter who never stopped believing, every former player who wore the badge with pride, and every young child in Enugu dreaming of one day stepping onto that pitch in Rangers colours.
“Congratulations to our Flying Antelopes. Enugu is proud.”
