On Thursday 23 April, 2026, Ademola Adeleke, Executive Governor of Osun State, announced, the official launch of the Osun State Security Trust Fund.
The development has been described by the Governor as a “strategic response” to the heightening “security challenges and funding gaps” in the Southwestern State.
The Governor assured his administration’s commitment to ensuring Osun State is “safe and peaceful”.
Governor Adeleke announced: “Today, I officially activated the Osun State Security Trust Fund as a strategic response to rising security challenges and funding gaps, reaffirming our commitment to keeping Osun safe and peaceful.”
Adeleke said, the initiative which has suffered abdndonement for long has now been restored with the aim to ensure the provision of “sustainable support for modern security infrastructure”.
He also made known, the State government’s commitment of “₦300 million” to the initiative, as well as, a “₦500 million” donation from Dr. Deji Adeleke.
Governor Adeleke said: “This initiative, long abandoned, has now been revived to provide sustainable support for modern security infrastructure, including surveillance systems, operational tools, and enhanced logistics for our security agencies.
“To demonstrate our resolve, the Osun State Government is committing ₦300 million, while Dr. Deji Adeleke has generously donated ₦500 million, alongside contributions from the private sector.”
Adeleke assured all partners of “transparency” as they collaborate to bolster security in Osun State.
Governor Adeleke said: “I assure all partners of transparency and accountability as we work together to strengthen security across our state.
“Together, we will protect our people and preserve Osun’s status as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.”
