Estevao Willian scored the winner for Chelsea as the hosts discomfited Liverpool narrowly in the Premier League match on Saturday 4 October, 2025 at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s Blues, who fielded without eight players as a result injury and suspension, opened the scoring in the first half through an outstanding Caicedo strike.
The Ecuadorian midfielder was given sufficient time and space to measure a shot and swiftly shot it home from 20 yards.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool responded in the 63rd minute through Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, who converted striker Alexander Isak’s assist; however, despite having to substitute both centre-backs, Maresca’s side fought hardest for the winner.
And the winner arrived in the sixth minute of additional time as Marc Cucurella passed the ball across the Liverpool six-yard box and there was former Palmeiras winger, Estevao, at the back post to guide the ball home and hand the hosts a 2-1 win.
Estevao’s goal ignited wild scenes of celebration across Stamford Bridge.
The outcome means Slot’s Liverpool have now suffered three (3) defeats back-to-back after losing to Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League, and Galatasaray by a lone goal in the Uefa Champions League; the Turkish Süper Lig side scored the only goal of the clash through Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, from the penalty spot.
