Defender Diogo Dalot withdraws from Portugal squad

Manchester United defender, Diogo Dalot, has pulled out from the Portugal Uefa 2026 World Cup qualifier sqaud after picking up an injury during training with his fellow countrymen.

The 26-year-old player was supposed to field in World Cup qualifiers against in Armenia on Saturday and Hungary next Tuesday.

The Portuguese Federation made known Diogo was suffering from “muscle discomfort”, with Lazio’s Nuno Tavares called up to take his place.

The Portuguese defender who featured at left wing-back in the slim 3-2 triumph over Burnley at the weekend, releasing an assist for Cameroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo’s goal with a beautiful piece of work down the flank and clever cutback to the former Brentford goal machine.

Dalot’s Manchester United will play against neighbours, Manchester City, in the Derby on Sunday 14 September, 2025 at 16:30 (WAT) at Etihad Stadium.
