Post-match reactions from Oliver Glasner and Arne Slot
Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, told the BBC: “We deserved the win. We played an amazing first half and had a deserved lead. To overcome the pressure of Liverpool, they deserved an equaliser but I’m delighted at the reaction of our team.
“Every player is so important, all the subs came on to help us to win the game. I am really proud of the performance.
“We will analyse the game and take in all this positivity. I said to the players to enjoy this evening, it is the best recovery. You have to enjoy these moments otherwise you have to ask why you are doing it.”
Following his side’s defeat, Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, told SkySports: “Very difficult first half. They did really well and deserved to be 1-0 up, we were lucky it was only 1-0.
“Second half it was the opposite. It took a while before we scored and we did with a few minutes left. But from a second set piece they won the game.”
On Crystal Palace, the Dutchman said: “Their game style fits really well to their players, They have a low block with fast players on the break and a big man in Mateta. We had a lot of problems in the first half. The rest of time we had possession but very hard to beat that low block.”
On the winner, Slot said: “It is never ideal when you concede in extra time of extra time. We take learnings from all the games we have played and we can take even more from a game like this.”
Crystal Palace have now recorded eighteen (18) games unbeaten.
The Eagles wrote: “18 games unbeaten. Statement made.”
