Award-winning actress, Stephanie Linus, has called for more investment in women’s football.
The filmmaker’s call is coming after the Super Falcons’ triumph in the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Linus said, “it’s time we match their excellence with real investment in women’s football.”
#MissionX was accomplished on Saturday 26 July, 2025 when the Super Falcons came from the back (two goals down) to discomfit Morocco 3-2 in the final of the WAFCON in Rabat.
The feat further cemented Nigeria’s force and dominance in Women’s Football in Africa; emerging a record ten-time WAFCON Champions.
Stephanie Linus wrote on X: “Congratulations to the Super Falcons, CHAMPIONS of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations! Once again, our queens have made Nigeria proud!

Esther Okoronkwo, who fields for Canadian club, AFC Toronto, emerged Woman Of The Match, following her beautiful contributions to Nigeria triumph in the final.
The forward scored the opening goal for Nigeria which inspired the West African nation’s comeback victory, and went ahead to record two (2) assists.
Captian of the Super Falcons, who fields for Spanish club, Atletico Madrid Women, Rasheedat Ajibade, carted the Player Of The Tournament award.
