José Barcala has been appointed new manager of FC Bayern Munich Women.
Barcala, 43, has agreed a contract until 30 June 2027 and will join from Swiss first division club Servette.

José Barcala has been appointed the new head coach of FC Bayern Women. The 43-year-old Spaniard has agreed a contract until 30 June 2027 and arrives from Swiss first division club Servette. In 2024, his first year as head coach there, he won the double of league and Swiss Cup, having previously built up a wealth of coaching experience in Spain, France and Scotland, among other countries.
FC Bayern Women director Bianca Rech:
“We’re very confident that in José Barcala we’ve found a coach who is a perfect fit for us both as a person and in sporting terms. Our aim is to make continuous progress – both on and off the pitch. We want to continue working on forming a team who are capable of winning trophies both domestically league and in Europe. We’re looking forward to working together and to the new season, which we will tackle together with real drive.”
