Sudan Unrest: ‘Over 32k have fled, immediate funding is critical’ – UNOCHA

Above thirty-two (32) thousand people have fled Sudan to the Central African Republic (CAR), as revealed by the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UN agency with the responsibility to “help humanitarian organisations save the lives of people caught in crises”, said, “immediate funding is critical”.

UNOCHA said: “Conflicts in neighbouring Sudan and Chad are driving up humanitarian needs in the #CentralAfricanRepublic.


Over 32K people have fled Sudan to CAR.

Insecurity along the border is causing food prices to spike.


“Immediate funding is critical.”

According to reports.unocha.org, a Central African Republic (CAR) Situation Report says:

  1. In 2024, the humanitarian community in CAR plans to assist 1.9 million most vulnerable people. US$ 367.7 million is required.
  2. Humanitarian actors provided life-saving assistance to 2 million people in 2023.
  3. Faced with insecurity in their villages, Chadians seek refuge in northwest Central Africa
  4. Increasingly worrying humanitarian situation in the Haut-Mbomou Prefecture
