Goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn in the 13th and 56th minutes respectively were enough to hand the Villans all three points from the encounter.
The clash was Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery’s 1,000th game as manager.
Six minutes to the end of the game, Lille pulled one back through Bafode Diakite via a header from Angel Gomes’ cross.
