Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, said, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold can be the best right-back in the world if only he can improve on some defensive “things” and be consistent.

23-year old Alexander-Arnold has suffered criticism and pressure this season as he struggles for form. He was picked to play for England recently, however, did not field against Italy and was dropped out of the squad that played against Germany.

Neville told SkySports, “No full-back that I’ve ever seen in this country can do what he can do.

“So, if he can just work on those basic [defensive] things and get consistency, we won’t just have one of the best attacking right-backs this country has ever produced, we will probably have the best right-back the world has ever produced.

“This is a [Brazil legend] Cafu – that level of full-back, this is something unbelievably special.”

Gary Neville, who played 605 games for Manchester United and 85 games for England, said, Alexander-Arnold’s game is not balanced as the attacking element exceeds the defensive side.
