Lamido blasted Wike amid the crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The party remains the biggest opposition to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
PDP has been suffering internal crisis since the conclusion of the party’s Presidential primaries which saw Wike lose to Atiku Abubakar, who is the party’s Presidential flagbearer for the 2023 Elections.
Atiku Abubakar went ahead to grant an interview after clinching victory over Wike at the Presidential primaries of the party, this made issues worse within the party.
According to reports, both warring parties met for a settlement at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), however, the crisis still tarries.
Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, during his interview on Channels Television, reacted to the crisis within the party, he said, “we should forget about Wike”.
Lamido is of the belief that Wike’s muscles in Nigeria’s politics will not negatively affect the PDP’s votes in Rivers State.
He said: “Wike is an individual, I don’t think because he is a governor there he has control and monopoly over the peoples of Rivers.
“He hasn’t got it. Rivers people are also PDP in their own right. They were there in 1999 when he joined. They were there when he was council chairman.
“Therefore, because he’s a governor, he now thinks he is their emperor, it can’t work. There is a Wike in every part of Nigeria who is a governor.
“Leave Wike alone. He has the right to do whatever he wants. He can give order to people in Rivers who are enslaved to him. But right now if you go to Rivers, they are contesting for the governorship seat there, it was Wike who imposed the current candidate and nobody questioned that.”
